NIGERIAN HAND RATTLES
Musical instruments made from nuts that produce a loud crackling sound when shook. $18
BOLIVIAN GOAT HOOF SHAKERS
A big, dry sound crackles from this small instrument so it is a traditional ornament of dancers and a popular accompaniment to pan flute music. Timekeeper of the downbeat, the rattle keeps a foot tapping right on beat.

CAXIXI RATTLE
The Caxixi (ca-she-she) are basket rattles used by many tribes in Africa. Caxixi are filled with pebbles, or small, hard seeds, and come in different sizes.

TAMBOURINE
Tambourines are an ancient instrument that has remained virtually unchanged since it was developed. The instrument has a wooden frame and jingles (bells) inserted into the wood. Tambourines used in Peru and Mexico are both a tambourine and drum. Africa tambourines do not have drum heads.

REBANA DRUM
The Rebana (ruh-bah-nah) drum from Java, Indonesia is a sheep skin stretched over a mango wood frame.

Square frame drums from the Ashanti people of Ghana. They are held with one hand in the middle of the cross frame & struck with the outer hand.

Wooden double sided drums from Mali. The talking drum products a wide range of pitches including high female sounds & low male sounds by squeezing the drum strings. 11” tall

TIC TOC DRUM
The Tic Toc drum is a double sided drum on a stick that is made in Kenya. The drum is played by holding the stick between your hands & whirling the drum back & forth.
VIETNAMESE FROG RASPS
Solid wood instruments which produce a loud frog-like sound when the stick is rubbed across the back. Great for music, science and storytelling.

CHILEAN RAINSTICK
The rainstick is a hollowed out cactus filled with tiny pebbles. When the rainstick is turned upside down the pebbles fall through the cactus thorns creating a sprinkling sound similar to rainfall.

OCARINA
